About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Residential Treatment Specialist I & II to provide trauma-informed care and supervision to youth in our residential treatment program. This role builds on foundational direct care skills and takes on greater independence, peer coaching responsibilities, and leadership within the therapeutic milieu. What You'll Do

  • Provide consistent, trauma-informed supervision and care to youth across all daily living routines
  • Apply advanced de-escalation techniques, anticipating triggers and intervening early to prevent escalation
  • Exercise sound, independent judgment in fast-paced situations, balancing individual youth needs with safety and program expectations
  • Mentor and support entry-level staff by modeling best practices in trauma-informed care, professional communication, and crisis response
  • Assist youth with physical needs including hygiene, nutrition, and personal organization
  • Integrate individual treatment plans and program policies into all care decisions
  • Accurately document and report youth behavior, incidents, and any changes in health or disposition
  • Participate in and help facilitate recreational, educational, and skill-building activities with residents
  • Serve as a positive role model and active contributor to the treatment team
  • Provide client transportation as needed
  • Attend all required trainings, team meetings, and treatment conferences

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree or active enrollment in a related Bachelor's degree program may substitute for experience

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a residential or behavioral health setting required; 2 years preferred

Licensing & Compliance

  • Valid Ohio driver's license with an acceptable driving record preferred
  • Must pass all required post-offer background checks
  • Current TB screening showing no signs or symptoms of tuberculosis required prior to start date

Required Trainings

  • The following certifications must be completed within 30 days of hire:
    • Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Trauma-Informed Care
    • Youth Engagement
  • The following trainings must be completed within the first 6 months:
    • Mental Health First Aid
    • Advanced De-Escalation
    • Peer Mentoring Training

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs safely
  • Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Ability to respond quickly during crisis situations
  • Ability to perform approved physical safety interventions in accordance with TCI training

Working Conditions

  • Smoke-free work environment
  • Schedule includes evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Work involves exposure to crisis intervention, physical safety interventions, loud noises, and stressful situations
  • Mandatory overtime may be required to ensure the safety, supervision, and care of residents
