2nd Shift Premium: $1.50/hour + Base Wage

The Opportunity

We're seeking a compassionate and skilled Residential Treatment Specialists to provide a safe, nurturing environment for children and youth ages 11-17. In this vital role, you'll provide one-on-one and group support while implementing a daily schedule of therapeutic and recreational activities that promote healing and growth.

What You'll Do

Support & Care

  • Welcome children entering the facility and create a positive, therapeutic atmosphere
  • Provide physical and emotional security through intervention, redirection, and support
  • Maintain consistent, firm, and fair relationships with all residents
  • Serve as a positive role model for youth in our care

Daily Responsibilities

  • Manage the physical needs of children including health, hygiene, and comfort
  • Maintain active awareness of the whereabouts and activities of each assigned child
  • Implement individual care plans aligned with agency philosophy and policies
  • Participate in planning, supervising, and providing therapeutic and recreational activities
  • Transport children to medical appointments, school, and activities as needed

Documentation & Teamwork

  • Provide formal and informal reports on behavior, attitudes, and general disposition
  • Complete incident reports, department logs, behavior rating scales, and primary sheets
  • Serve as an integral member of the treatment team
  • Attend conferences, meetings, and required training sessions

Crisis Intervention

  • Intervene when behavior is damaging to self, others, or property
  • Stay calm and make sound decisions in high-stress situations
  • Apply trauma-informed care and crisis intervention techniques

Our Ideal Candidate

You have:

  • Expertise in Trauma-Informed Care, Crisis Intervention & Relationship-based support
  • The ability to stay calm and make sound decisions in high-stress or crisis situations
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Prior experience in residential treatment, inpatient, day treatment, or shelter care (highly preferred)

  • Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated emotional intelligence with an empathy-forward approach
  • Communication: Clear, concise, and effective verbal and written expression
  • Decision Quality: High degree of initiative, tact, and good judgment
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with emails, electronic documentation, and MS Windows applications
  • Adaptability: Quick to adapt to change and consider new approaches
  • Independence: Takes responsibility for own effectiveness and contributes proactively

Qualifications

Option 1 (RTS I):

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 years of experience supporting youth with emotional, behavioral, or mental health needs in a residential environment

Option 2 (RTS II):

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2 years of experience supporting youth with emotional, behavioral, or mental health needs in a residential environment

OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Preferred:

  • Valid Driver's License with less than 4 points
