What is Lifebanc?

Lifebanc, is the federally designated organ, eye and tissue recovery organization that serves 20 counties in Northeast Ohio. Put simply, we facilitate and coordinate organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation in our community and educate the public on the importance of our mission. Position Description:

This position is responsible for supporting the mission, vision, and values of Lifebanc by developing and maintaining a positive donation culture within the assigned hospitals. Supports strategic plans, reports organ, tissue and eye (O/T/E) data and seeks strategies to improve in areas indicated. Develops and sustains relationships with referring physicians, nursing staff, unit leadership and other hospital staff in donor hospitals to achieve performance goals.


Essential Functions:

  • Educate and coach hospital staff on organ and tissue donation process to optimize outcomes including conversion rate, OTPD, and number of donors (organ and tissue).
  • Collaborate with the Director of Hospital Services and HS team to develop and implement plans to optimize hospital performance.
  • Participate in monthly record review of missed opportunities for donation.
  • Develop solutions to issues that impede the donation process.
  • Provides ongoing hospital staff development in clinical and quality improvement.
  • Create and customize professional education materials for informal and formal presentations, large and small audience educational forums, including slide and PowerPoint presentations, booklets, teaching tools, etc.
  • Provide onsite in-person support to Lifebanc and hospital staff during active cases and/or pending referrals.
  • Utilizes superior customer service skills to identify decision-making individuals who can influence hospital protocols.
  • Collaborates with key hospital staff members in real-time on all active referrals and/or cases.
  • Completes all required hospital services documentation for donor hospitals to ensure compliance with Lifebanc, AOPO and regulatory standards.
  • Composes and responds to all quality system occurrences via Lifebanc occurrence database.
  • Utilizes hospital profiles to support active donor cases as needed.
  • Responds to medical record review data.
  • Provides information about hospital culture, critical issues, and hospital champions, etc.
  • Collaborates with donor hospital staff and FSC to provide coordination of authorization process.
  • Develops and relays communication strategy (Huddle) with appropriate hospital staff to assure best care of potential donor families.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years’ work experience in professional environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to assess situations and people and respond in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Skill in presenting information to various audiences in an engaging and professional manner.
  • Ability to initiate interpersonal interaction with hospital staff and develop ongoing positive relationships.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to prioritize based on emergent needs.
  • Ability to adapt and be resilient in stressful situations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds and sit or stand for extended periods of time.
