Job Description

As this is a hybrid role, working out of our Creative Studios in Westlake, Ohio, we will focus on candidates who have plans to reside in Northeast Ohio for the Summer of 2026.

American Greetings is looking for a Human Resources Intern for the Summer of 2026.

In this role, you will play a valuable support role within the Human Resources team with daily operations, including maintaining employee records, assisting with policy and handbook projects, and ensuring onboarding activities are completed. This role offers hands-on exposure to key HR functions, with opportunities to shadow HR team members during employee relations, investigations, and recruitment activities. The intern will also provide general administrative support and contribute to a compliant, well-organized HR environment.

Ideal candidates are students with a minimum of 2 years pursuing a related degree who are detail-oriented, professional, and eager to gain practical HR experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Assist in maintaining and organizing employee records, both electronic and hard copy.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and legal regulations regarding record-keeping.
• Participate in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
• Assist with handbook consistency project.
• Partner with HR Administrator to ensure onboarding completion.
• Shadow HR Generalist or Specialist during investigation intake, employee relations discussions, or recruitment meetings (as appropriate).
• Provide administrative support to the HR department as needed.

Experience Required:

Internship Program Summary
• Dates of Internship: This is a 10-week, paid internship (Monday, June 1, 2025 – Friday, August 7, 2026)
• Location: Westlake, Ohio
• Work Environment: You will be working in a hybrid environment that requires working on-site, at least, 2 days each week.
• Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
• Our Internship Program is designed to provide students with real and meaningful work experiences in their field of interest while providing valuable insight into other key areas of the business.
• Along with the work you will be performing, we have curated a calendar of events and learning opportunities that will keep you engaged and excited!

Requirements
• Must have plans to reside in Northeast Ohio for the Summer of 2026
• There is no housing stipend associated with this internship
• Minimum of two years of undergraduate course work is preferred.
• Must be able to work full time hours for the duration of the internship

Experience Required
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)
• Basic understanding of Human Resources principles and practices is a plus
• Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.

• Demonstrated teamwork and leadership through extracurricular activities and/or work experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple projects at once as well as plan and prioritize work.
• Displays a professional and positive attitude with team members
• Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Education Required:

A minimum of 2 years of undergraduate course work in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.
