Y-HAVEN DESCRIPTION

Y-Haven is a drug and alcohol treatment and transitional housing program serving adults in Northeast Ohio who are most in need. Formed in 1993 by the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, Y-Haven has helped thousands recover from addiction, secure permanent housing and re-build their lives. Y-Haven serves up to 208 individuals at a time including men who are homeless, women and men seeking to recover from Opioid Use Disorder and those re-entering the community from incarceration.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS

Through Y-Haven’s “Careers” Workforce Development program the Vocational Coordinator will marshal the many vocational resources in Cuyahoga County to improve the employment outcomes of the high barrier individuals Y-Haven serves. Y-Haven will also serve those who have exited the program who have not been able to secure and sustain gainful employment.

To implement its’ workforce objectives Y-Haven the Vocational Coordinator will create and steward employment and education partnerships, conduct support groups, link residents to services, meet with hard to employ residents, and oversee Y-Haven’s workforce outcomes. The Vocational Coordinator will be supervised by Y-Haven’s Executive Director.

OBJECTIVES

  • Create and maintain partnerships with job placement and training agencies and programs and ensure each Y-Haven resident is linked.
  • Lead support groups that will support Y-Haven residents in finding and keeping jobs.
  • Provide Case Management for “hard to employ” residents.
  • Offer positive and meaningful alternatives to employment for those unable to work.
  • Improve the positive employment outcomes of Y-Haven from 40% to 55%.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES

  1. Ensure every Y-Haven, Open Door and Rising Hope resident who is able to work is linked with a job search / job training agency or program.
  2. Create and support collaborative relationships with job search, job placement and job training agencies and programs.
  3. Ensure each Y-Haven resident has vocational assessment completed
  4. Ensure each Y-Haven able to work has vocational plan created by their job organization or by Y-Haven.
  5. Ensure each Y-Haven resident is referred to job search and job maintenance training either externally or internally.
  6. Lead job search and job maintenance groups for its participants. Develop “Find Job” groups for residents that will provide emotional and practical support for Y-Haven residents seeking work and develop “Keep a Job” groups for those who are employed to discuss workplace challenges such as attendance and relationships.
  7. Provide one-on-one case management for those whose job search efforts are falling short.
  8. Provide information and linkage for employment resources to current and former Y-Haven clients.
  9. Develop positive and meaningful alternatives to employment for those unable to work.
  10. Assist in tracking every Y-Haven client’s employment and engagement progress.
  11. Participate in daily team meetings, in-service trainings and coordination meetings.
  12. Coordinate with Clinical Director on all critical client issues.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must be Licensed Social Worker (LSW, LISW, LISW-S), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC, LPCC, LPCC-S), or Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDCII, LCDCIII, LIDCC, LICDC-CS).
  2. Must have Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
  3. Must have successful experience facilitating SUD group counseling.
  4. Must have extensive knowledge of Substance Use Disorders and co-occurring Mental Health Disorders.
  5. Must have at least one year experience in SUD Counseling.
  6. Must have basic computer skills, using Microsoft Office applications.
  7. Should have working knowledge of OHMAS, CARF and VA program compliance standards.
