The Supervisor of Aquatics will be responsible for the smooth and effective delivery of designated programs, which include progressive swim classes, water aerobics classes, and lifeguarding. Responsibilities include scheduling and supervising aquatics staff, and pool maintenance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Aquatics Director in assigned tasks.
  • Address questions and concerns regarding aquatic programming.
  • Supervise lifeguards, water fitness instructors and swim lesson instructors.
  • Ensure appropriate coverage which may include guarding or instructing when a substitute is not available
  • Identify training needs and initiate development activities of aquatics staff.
  • Visible and enthusiastic involvement with members, volunteers and staff.
  • Participate in and support Association events and fund raising activities.
  • Conduct monthly in-service trainings for staff

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of one year experience in aquatics instruction.
  • Current CPR/AED Pro, O2 Management, Current 1st Aid preferred.
  • Current YMCA lifeguarding or American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Instructor Certification a plus.
  • Current Y Swimming Lessons(YSL) Certification or WSI Certification pre.ferred
  • Physical ability to rescue an individual from the water.
  • Knowledgeable in use of teaching aids: kickboards, pull buoys, diving rings, etc,
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures and use of Bloodborne Pathogens personal protective equipment,
  • All YMCA employees are mandated reports of child abuse and neglect.
