POSITION SUMMARY:
The Housekeeper is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the designated YMCA facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Perform daily cleaning of assigned facility including but not limited to: cleaning and sanitizing restrooms & locker rooms, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, trash removal, window cleaning, trash pickup and removal, spill cleanup, floor cleaning and maintenance in all areas of the Y.
· Maintain all cleaning equipment, supplies, and products; ensure safe and sanitary storage and care of products
· In charge of vacuuming equipment; vacuums and cleans carpets, performs further treatments such as shampoo or stain-removal as needed
· Ensure all directions for cleaning chemicals and supplies are followed as directed.
· Responsible for ensuring proper supply levels are maintained, as well as reporting all inventory and/or supply needs to supervisor in a timely manner to ensure the cleanliness of the facility.
· Interacts with members and staff in a positive, professional manner that supports our cause.
· Report any maintenance issues or concerns to supervisor immediately.
· Assist and/or perform projects of a special nature.
· Must be able to read, and write legibly and in an understandable manner.
· Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
· High School diploma preferred.
Experience:
· Previous experience in commercial housekeeping required.
Certification(s) & Requirements:
· Any Janitorial, Custodial or Floor Maintenance certification preferred.
· CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire.
· Must be 18 years of age.
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
· Must be able to effectively communicate with members and YMCA staff.
· Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance.

· Must be able to read and understand cleaning product and equipment instructions and apply them effectively.

· Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect. All employees are required to follow the child abuse and neglect reporting process: completion of Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services (696-Kids) and notifying your immediate supervisor, branch executive, risk management and human resources department (s).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Must be able to move and lift 50-75 lbs.
· Must be willing and able to climb a ladder.
· A frequent amount of standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and bending.
