POSITION SUMMARY:
This Program Coordinator will be responsible for planning, delivering, supervising and monitoring designed programs for assigned branch.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for running and planning and scheduling all aspects of assigned programs. Recruiting, developing, and coordinating all volunteers within programs.
- Responsible for ensuring all program participants have the appropriate registration, and payments to participate.
- Responsible for the safety of all participants, knows emergency procedures and the location of emergency equipment.
- Maintains positive rapport with participants and parents of participants.
- Represents YMCA in appropriate business & community groups. This includes providing timely publicity, developing a working relationship with local schools and other community groups as directed by supervisor.
- Conducts programs in accordance with YMCA of Greater Cleveland standards and guidelines.
- Promotes and incorporates the YMCA core values and character development model in to all program activities and assist supervisor with the development and implementation of programming for designated sessions.
- Notify supervisor of any problems relating to program outcomes, impact, tracking and the class overall.
- Gathers periodic participants feedback through distribution written evaluation provided by the Program Director.
- Is actively and visibly involved with members, volunteers and staff in a positive, friendly manner that communicates and demonstrates the YMCA core values of caring, honest, respect and responsibility.
- Follow all established policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety practices and personnel policies.
- Participates in and support association and branch events and fund raising activities.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
- Supervises employees in assigned accountabilities, monitor site operation and scheduling and verify time sheets and actual hours worked.
- Identifies training needs and initiate development activities of supervisees. Recommend effective personnel management actions (i.e. employee counseling process).
- Secures and maintain required trainings and/or certifications necessary for the position.
- Assures that new employees complete orientation and training according to established guidelines and provide on the job training as required by supervisor.
- Ensures duties, responsibilities and accountabilities of all direct reports are defined and understood. Ensure that the individual understands the standards for acceptable performance.
- Notifies Department Director of job openings, assist in hiring and interview process.
- Keeps employees informed as to association and branch events.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- High school diploma or GED required, Associates Degree preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of (1) one years’ experience in staff supervision.
- Minimum of (1) one years’ experience in programming/program growth. (Youth oriented Programming and Sports)
Certification(s) and Requirements:
- Adhere to Blood borne Pathogen standards and attend annual training.
- CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire.
- Must be 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license.
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
- Program expertise to instruct / lead class(s), team(s) when assigned instruction is unavailable.
- Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated team player.
- Ability to multitask in a changing environment
- Demonstrate commitment to the mission, cause of the YMCA, and uphold its values and ethics.
- Ability to work effectively work with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions
- Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect. All employees are required to follow the child abuse and neglect reporting process: completion of Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services (696-Kids) and notifying your immediate supervisor, branch executive, risk management and human resources department (s).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, instruct and bend for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to work in a moderate to noisy work environment.
- May be required to work outside and on occasion may encounter inclement weather.
