BASIC FUNCTION: Under the supervision of a fully licensed Speech-Language Pathologist diagnoses speech and language disorders and undertakes corrective measures to improve the client’s communicative ability. Participates in the development of a client-centered, family-oriented treatment plan for the client. Provides evaluation and treatment services in both independent and multi-disciplinary modalities. Teaches family members how to carry out speech/language therapy exercises/ treatment at home. Works in collaboration with school, community and/or other related professionals as needed to provide coordinated family-oriented, client-centered services. May be required to provide Alternative/Augmentative Communication (AAC) evaluation and treatment for clients of United Cerebral Palsy and the Assistive Technology Collaborative for Communication.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Diagnose and treat language and speech disorders.
2. Plan, direct, and conduct remedial programs designed to restore or improve communicative efficiency.
3. Provide speech and language evaluation and therapy in both independent and multi-disciplinary modalities, depending on the needs and abilities of the client.
4. Consult with physicians regarding possible organic disorders.
5. Consult with involved school, community and/or other services providers to insure quality, coordinated services for the client.
6. Under the supervision of a fully licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, maintain up-to-date documentation for all clients served according to standards established by United Cerebral Palsy, Medicaid, Medicare, CARF, and other funding sources.
7. Participate in the development and review of Individual Service Plans.
8. Work with parents and/or other care givers to enhance the delivery of services identified in the Individual Plans.
9. May be required to evaluate and recommend clients for Alternative/Augmentative Communication (AAC) devices; train clients, families and support personnel in the use.
10. May be required to participate in team evaluations of the Assistive Technology Collaborative for Communication.
11. Other job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: Combination of education and experience normally represented by a Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology and certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association with conditional licensure in speech Pathology in Ohio. Experience working with clients and in a team settings. Prefer training and experience in evaluating and providing Alternative/Augmentative Communication (AAC) services for clients. Possess a valid Ohio driver’s license with no more than two (2) moving violations and have reliable daily transportation.
