Position Summary:
The Lead Sourcing Specialist is responsible for developing supplier relationships and leveraging expertise in the Electronics category to source products and services in alignment with business requirements, objectives, and Swagelok's values. This is a unique opportunity to help shape and mature the organization's electronics category strategy while leading high-impact sourcing initiatives and supplier partnerships. The position requires competency across all aspects of the Strategic Sourcing Methodology and provides guidance to others in the development of sourcing strategies and supplier selection decisions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead the development of sourcing strategies and supplier selection decisions based on a thorough understanding of, and the ability to effectively deploy, the strategic sourcing methodology.
Demonstrate the ability to lead all aspects of the negotiation process including strategy planning and negotiation execution for high impact negotiations.
Demonstrate a high level of proficiency when representing Swagelok and interfacing with other companies including their executive management.
Manage major part transition strategies from incumbent to new suppliers as required while achieving inventory, production operations, and fulfillment strategy objectives. Provide regular progress reports, including reports/presentations to executive management, on the implementation of sourcing strategies.
Develop a thorough expertise for assigned spend categories. Understand market trends and conditions and availability of capable suppliers.
Perform the duties and responsibilities of lower grade-level Sourcing Specialists, as required, including purchasing components/materials from new suppliers until receipt and acceptance of the initial orders.
Provide leadership, feedback, and mentoring for developing Sourcing Specialists and project team associates.
Lead the development and implementation of special projects to enhance the performance of the department.
Lead supplier site visits and evaluate potential suppliers by assessing the facilities, procedures, business systems, personnel, quality, financial, delivery, and manufacturing capabilities to ensure alignment with Swagelok expectations.

Education and/or Work Experience Required:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in related field (purchasing, marketing, business, engineering, etc.) and 10 or more years relevant work experience
Skills/Knowledge:
Demonstrated wide range of highly developed sourcing related skills and knowledge, including a thorough understanding of, and the proven ability to effectively deploy, the strategic sourcing methodology.
Strong computer skills and a solid understanding of MRP/business systems.
Strong leadership skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Highly effective project management skills and problem-solving abilities.
Fully developed negotiation skills.
Advanced professional presence and business acumen with the ability to interact effectively with all levels within an organization.
Capable of successfully managing major complex sourcing projects with only general management oversight/guidance.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
- Working conditions associated with normal office environment.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, telephone, copier, printer, etc.).
- Ability to effectively communicate in both small and large groups and settings.
- Ability to traverse between multiple locations in Ohio and Pennsylvania as needed.
- Occasional domestic and/or international travel may be required.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
