Team Leader

Position Summary

The Team Leader in our Mentor, OH manufacturing facility will be responsible for leading team members and providing expert production knowledge in high-quality medical industry manufacturing environment.

This position requires working onsite in our Mentor, Ohio facilty Monday through Thursday 6:00am to 4:00pm.

Note: You must arrive 15 minutes before the shift starts to prepare for the shift and stay 15 minutes afterward to close out after the shift is completed. This role is eligible for overtime.

What You'll do as a Team Leader

• Provide expert knowledge, instruction, and oversight of the team in their performance.
• Recommend and develop tools and fixtures for improving quality and productivity.
• Train and guide production staff during the introduction of new production items.
• Lead work over various workstations. This includes but is not limited to; ensure production lines are running, fill in for employee breaks as needed; troubleshoot minor problems with equipment and parts; provide all tracked information (counts, scrap, etc.); make suggestions regarding employee issues (merit, disciplinary, etc.); make suggestions regarding process improvements/changes.
• Measure production rates by the hour and complete proper documentation to management.
• Maintain scrap counts for proper inventory adjustments.
• Ensure assigned work group completes all projects, assignments, and duties as directed and instructed.
• Promotes a safe work environment at all times, ensuring the use of all prescribed safety equipment and observation of all safety rules stated in the Associate Handbook.
• Ensures conformance to all policies, procedures and rules of conduct as communicated through the Associate Handbook, Bulletin Boards, Newsletters and any other vehicle by which information is distributed by STERIS® Management.
• Updates SQDC boards and presents information during Gemba Walks

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 or more years of experience with assembly of multiple components.

Preferred

• Minimum of 1 or more years of experience in a lead or supervisory role strongly preferred.
• Experience troubleshooting production equipment.
• Forklift experience preferred
• Valid Driver’s license preferred

Other:

• Ability to read and interpret work instructions and drawings.
• Must have strong math and troubleshooting proficiency and basic computer skills.
• Must have ability to stand for long periods of time. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds without assistance.
• Leadership skills including taking the initiative, initiating action,promoting teamwork, championing ideas, taking appropriate risks,translating ideas into specific tasks, and gaining confidence and trust of others.
