POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline; (e.g., Communication, Marketing, Change Management, Business, Journalism, English).
  • 7–10+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, marketing or related fields.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, with demonstrated experience supporting senior leaders.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate business priorities into clear, compelling messages.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a complex, matrixed organization and influence without direct authority.
  • High attention to detail, sound judgment and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience leading large-scale projects and managing change effectively.
  • Operates with professionalism, discretion and strong executive presence.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Prior experience with Microsoft O365 products.
  • Prior experience copywriting and editing content.
  • Basic video editing and graphic design experience/exposure, with Adobe Creative Suite or other industry-standard graphic design and video editing software.
  • Must have the legal right to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship now or in the future for employment visa status.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Sherwin-Williams business structure and strategic priorities.
  • Experience using Artificial Intelligence tools that positively impact communications efficiencies.
  • Strong eye for design, with experience guiding and evaluating creative work to ensure adherence to visual identity guidelines.
  • Prior experience with PR/crisis response and media relations.
  • Prior experience in a marketing communications capacity.
  • Prior experience with project management software or Cloud-based solutions (Monday.com; Adobe Workfront).

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

The Senior Manager, Corporate Communications serves as a strategic communications leader responsible for shaping and delivering enterprise-wide storytelling and messages that advance Sherwin-Williams strategic priorities, strengthen the corporate and employer brand and support executive and business leadership. This role leads high-impact content development and messaging across internal and external channels, provides trusted counsel on communications and ensures consistency, clarity and quality. The role balances hands-on execution with strategic leadership and requires collaboration across the enterprise. This includes working with all functions and business groups to ensure messaging is consistent, well-timed, aligns with the Company’s mission, vision and brand and strengthens the Company’s culture and reputation.

(1) Corporate Strategy and Storytelling:

  • Develop and implement a global messaging framework that articulates Sherwin-Williams story and strategic priorities, providing a foundation for external communications.
  • In partnership with HR and Talent Acquisition, steer the messaging for Sherwin-Williams employer brand and talent communications; Oversee and elevate content that highlights Sherwin-Williams as an employer of choice, align and expand recruiting materials, careers website content and social media presence with our corporate story and values.
  • Act as a strategic communications advisor to internal partners, providing guidance on content and messaging for key initiatives so that stories are told in a consistent, impactful way across the enterprise.
  • Align internal and external communications efforts to capitalize on shared storytelling opportunities.

(2) Editorial Leadership and Governance:

  • Help lead and expand Sherwin-Williams Global Editorial Network of communications “correspondents” across groups, divisions, regions and functions, to drive proactive, consistent and compelling narratives globally.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate messaging guidelines and brand standards in all communications materials, reviewing and refining content developed by various teams to ensure consistency in tone, voice and visual identity.
  • Champion ongoing messaging improvements by staying current on industry best practices in communications and adopting new tools, technology or approaches to enhance communications impact.
  • In collaboration with the team, refine and evolve Sherwin-Williams messaging guidelines to align with best practices.
  • Use data and insights to refine content strategy and editorial planning.
  • Help coach and develop communications professionals to improve performance and support career growth.

(3) Enterprise and Executive Communications:

  • Direct the creation and curation of high-quality content for internal communications (e.g. intranet news, employee newsletters, emails) and external channels (e.g. corporate website, social media), ensuring all content is engaging, accurate and aligned with messaging and brand guidelines.
  • Assist with executive communications including speeches, talking points, video scripts and presentation content and provide strategic counsel on messaging—helping leaders effectively communicate corporate vision, initiatives and values to employees, customers and other stakeholders.

This role will report to Sherwin-Williams Global Headquarters located at 1 Sherwin Way, Cleveland, OH 44113.
