Job Description
Strategic & Operational Financial Leadership
- Serve as the primary financial advisor to the General Manager.
- Provide financial leadership to support plant strategy, growth, and profitability initiatives.
- Translate operational performance into financial impact and actionable insights.
- Participate in site leadership planning, forecasting, and decision-making.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead annual budget, quarterly forecast, and long-range planning processes.
- Analyze plant performance including labor, overhead, and conversion costs.
- Track and report KPIs such as cost per unit/ton, yield, scrap, productivity, and absorption.
- Provide variance analysis with corrective action recommendations.
Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance
- Oversee standard costing, inventory valuation, and product costing.
- Monitor raw material usage, purchase price variances, and production efficiencies.
- Ensure accuracy of bills of material (BOMs) and routings.
- Partner with operations on cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Maintain strong internal controls and financial policies.
- Coordinate internal and external audits.
Cash Flow & Capital Management
- Manage plant cash flow, working capital, and liquidity.
- Oversee inventory controls and turns improvement.
- Evaluate and support capital expenditure projects and ROI analysis.
- Partner on equipment investments and modernization initiatives.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Manage insurance, financial risk, and audit readiness.
- Maintain SOX and internal control environments (if applicable).
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop finance, accounting, and payroll staff.
- Build bench strength and succession plans.
- Drive a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Key Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required.
- MBA, CPA and/or CMA.
Experience
- 10+ years progressive finance experience.
- Prior plant finance leadership or senior finance role required.
- Experience in metals, steel, or heavy industrial manufacturing preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong cost accounting and standard costing expertise.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing operations and plant KPIs.
- ERP system experience (AS400, SAP, NetSuite, etc.).
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling and analytical capability.
- Proven leadership and executive communication skills.
