Title:Business Development Manager (Hybrid/Remote Options)

Shift:Day Shift, 8:00AM - 5:00PM with heavy travel requirements

Location: Avon, Ohio

Remote/hybrid options available for the right candidate. Remote candidates must be in the Cleveland office one week per month.

Salary: $85,000 base plus 3% of sales revenue with earning potential over six figures

Business Development Manager Role:

Our client is seeking a driven and creative Business Development Manager to spearhead the growth of their propane, CO2, helium, and specialty gas distribution business in the retail, industrial, and ecommerce spaces. This role exists to scale the company’s regional footprint and execute a high-growth strategic plan following a comprehensive business review.

Business Development Manager Responsibilities:

  • Drive sales for propane, CO2, helium, and specialty gases to retail end users and diverse distribution channels

  • Prospect new business opportunities directly through high-volume phone activity and outbound outreach

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key retail and warehouse customers

  • Focus on expanding propane sales for e-distribution and forklift warehousing sectors

  • Develop the CO2 market specifically within the restaurant and bar industries

  • Identify and pursue growth opportunities in medical gas, industrial gas, and dry ice sectors

  • Manage the full sales cycle from initial follow-up with prospects to closing new business

  • Coordinate closely with customer service, supply chain, and procurement teams to ensure seamless delivery

  • Attend weekly Monday sales meetings to align on strategy and performance goals

Business Development Manager Reporting Relationships:

The candidate will join a growing sales team reporting into a leadership structure that includes the VP of Sales, CEO, and consultant. There are currently no direct reports for this role.

About You:

  • Experience in the gas (CO2, helium, etc.) industry is highly desired

  • Demonstrate the ability to learn complex product lines quickly

  • Demonstrate a proven track record in distribution, ecommerce and retail sales

  • Show proficiency in selling directly to big box retailers, restaurants, bars, or grocery channels

  • Exhibit a strong habit of disciplined follow-up and a high sense of urgency

  • Thrive in a small-company environment with a hands-on, collaborative approach

  • Possess a disciplined, process-oriented mindset toward sales growth

  • Practice creative thinking to identify and capture new market opportunities

  • Maintain the flexibility to travel heavily and work effectively in a hybrid or remote capacity
