Tool Room Technician

Title: Tool Room Technician

Location: Hudson, OH

Shift: 1st - 7am-3:30p, M-F

Salary: $28 - $38/hr (depending on level of experience)

Tool Room Technician Responsibilities:

  • Operate a variety of tool room equipment, including but not limited to, lathes, CNC mills, grinders, presses and hand tools to spot grind and finish hardened tools
  • Utilize tool room equipment to repair, PM, or prepare tooling to get the machines back up and running with minimal impact on OEE
  • Provide complete sets of tools for setups
  • Receive and inspect incoming tools from a P.O and make labels
  • Provide individual tools to operator stations for 1st and 2nd shift
  • Review and consume tools that have met life expectancy
  • Operates equipment to re-profile tools that engineering, and operators require for improved output.
  • Organize, manage, and maintain tool inventory
  • Assemble and certify dies for use
  • Provide on floor tooling support and interface with Operators, Set-Up personnel and Supervision to resolve issues at the machines that directly impact OEE Including continuous improvement opportunities that will increase OEE by minimizing or eliminating tooling issues that would affect machine availability (uptime)
  • Work with the Quality team on receiving inspection for purchased tooling to ensure that it meets the print
  • Participate in developing work instructions, resolving procedural issues, and suggesting and implementing improvements that impact the quality of products, the timeliness of delivery, or efficiency of operations
  • Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Responsible for promoting and following through with Quality Policy and ensuring personal and departmental objectives are met
  • Other various duties, as assigned, aligned with meeting company or departmental objectives.

About You:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Tool and Die Maker Journeyman’s certificate or equivalent
  • 5 years of similar experience in tool and die making or machining. Automotive industry and/or previous fastener experience desirable
