Job Description
DYS is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Supervisor to oversee the delivery of medical services at Cuyahoga Hills Juvenile Correctional Facility. The ideal candidate will have a solid clinical background and exceptional leadership skills.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Plan, direct, and evaluate all nursing care services delivered to youth; participate in the development of health care program directives and policies; develop, implement, and enforce facility health care policies and procedures; participate in internal quality assurance activities; monitor and evaluate the quality of health care; maintain statistics pertaining to health services
- Schedule, assign, supervise, and evaluate the work of RN’s; recruit, interview, and select new nursing staff; participate in the employee disciplinary process; assess training needs and provide in-service training for nursing and facility staff; conduct medical staff meetings; participate in the development of personal service contracts for health care professionals; participate in recruitment, selection, and orientation of contract providers and monitor their performance for compliance with contract specifications
- Provide professional nursing care to youth; participate in health education and promote health activities for youth; serve as liaison with community hospitals and health care providers; responsible for maintenance and security of complete medical records
- Advise facility administration on program needs; serve on committees as assigned; act as on-call supervisor and resource person to medical staff of other facilities when needed

Qualifications
Requires current licensure as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Ohio Revised Code; and 24 mos. exp. as registered nurse; and 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in counseling; and 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in interviewing; and 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in public relations; and 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in employee training & development; and 6 courses or 18 mos. exp. in management.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated licensure.

PRE-SERVICE TRAINING:
All new candidates hired to the Department of Youth Services are required to attend 3 weeks of mandatory, paid training at the Correctional Training Academy in Orient, Ohio. Training Academy hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Travel, lodging, and meals are provided.
