What You Will Do: As a Maintenance Repair Worker 2, you will perform entry-level tasks related to facilities maintenance. Job duties may include, but are not limited to, grounds keeping/Landscaping, HVAC, Plumbing, Carpentry, and Electrical work. The selected candidate will work out of the Garfield Heights location but will also be required to travel to all facilities within the district, located in Lake, Geauga, & Cuyahoga Counties, using a state vehicle. The selected candidate must have a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in maintenance repair work (e.g., basic electricity, plumbing, carpentry, masonry repair & use of associated hand & power tools & equipment); in Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry only, applicants must have successfully completed the mandated basic firefighter/introduction to fire behavior course (S-130/S-190); in accordance with section 124.11 (B) (2) of revised code, Director Of Administrative Services has determined this classification to be unskilled labor class & therefore exempt from written examination. Valid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code.

All bargaining unit and exempt new hires to ODOT must serve a one-year probationary period.

This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.

If this position is filled internally, the wage rate will be determined in accordance with the contract.

The final applicant accepted for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis before appointment to test for illegal drug use. Medical marijuana is prohibited as a valid medical explanation for a positive drug test. An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment, per section 3719.01 & 3719.41 of Ohio Revised Code.

Background Check: The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. An individual assessment of an applicant's prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
