Job Description
The Division of Industrial Compliance and its associated boards ensure Ohioans are safe in public buildings such as businesses, educational institutions and municipal buildings. This includes drafting and applying the Ohio Building Code; conducting appeal hearings; issuing variances to code requirements; licensing commercial contractors; inspecting boilers, elevators and bedding; and regulating ski tramways. The division has responsibility for portions of the Manufactured Homes Program, and licenses installers and parks. The division also oversees Ohio’s minimum wage, prevailing wage and minor labor law programs.
This position is headquartered out of Coshocton County. You must live in Coshocton or an adjacent county to be considered.
- Must be Qualified Elevator Inspector certified by the National Association of Elevator Safety Authorities
- Supervise, train, and assist elevator inspectors on statewide basis to ensure proper inspection of elevators and issuance of correction orders
- Manages assigned inspection jurisdiction to ensure compliance with all applicable codes
- Liaison between central office support staff, Section Chief, and elevator inspectors to convey verbal and written policies, procedures, decisions, and directions
- Performs administrative tasks such as report writing, AMANDA database maintenance, and operational monitoring of inspector work product

Qualifications
Certificate of competency to inspect elevators as required in Section 4105.02 of revised code; 24 mos. trg. or 24 mos. exp. in investigative procedures & techniques; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in public relations; valid driver's license.
-Or 6 mos. exp. as Elevator Inspector, 24141.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
