Job Description

What You’ll Do:

  • Works under general direction and requires considerable knowledge of teacher education
  • Provides instruction in auto mechanics (e.g., operating diagnostic equipment, performing major and minor tune-ups, servicing and repairing brakes and transmissions, diagnosing and repairing electrical problems, fuel systems and cooling and heating problems) and individual assistance
  • Assesses educational needs of inmates
  • Develops lesson plans to address those needs to include individual assignments and training
  • Provides instruction and individual assistance
  • Administers, scores and interprets examinations and proficiency indicators
  • Maintains discipline and/or security; counsels students concerning their performance, behavior and/or personal problems.
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Prepares required records and reports (e.g., enrollment, grades, student progress)
  • Inventories and orders supplies and materials needed
  • Sesearches, selects and recommends new teaching materials
  • Attends in-service training sessions and workshops for professional development
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Must meet eligibility requirements for Teacher Certificate/License appropriate for career-tech - automotive mechanics & grade level as assigned*; Teacher 1, 71341, must also have baccalaureate degree or less per OEA agreement. NOTE: Applicant must successfully obtain Teacher Certificate or License prior to employment.

Testing will also be performed for the presence of marijuana.
