Job Title: Toddler Lead Teacher. Status: Non-exempt; union. Reports to: Early Childhood Education Director. Basic Function: Under supervision, perform services and duties necessary to provide total care for toddlers 18 months through 36 months. Responsible for the daily operations of the classroom and ability to enhance children’s development and provide a safe place for toddlers to engage in activities. Responsibilities: Ensure activities align with the mission, vision, and values of Merrick House; greet children and families at arrival and departure; set up defined learning areas and maintain a safe, healthy classroom; operate in accordance with ODJFS Licensing Rules and Step Up to Quality regulations; supervise children and maintain ratios; follow a consistent daily routine; conduct drills; prepare weekly lesson plans aligned to Ohio Early Learning & Development Standards; complete screenings (ASQ3, Infant/Toddler DECA); prepare daily activity sheets; conduct two parent-teacher conferences; plan transitions; coordinate toddler transitions to Preschool; ensure referrals for suspected/diagnosed disabilities; engage with children at their level; maintain cleanliness; attend trainings and meetings; perform other duties as assigned. Requirements: CDA with Infant/Toddler endorsement or relevant degree in Early Childhood Education (Bachelor’s preferred); 1–3 years preschool classroom experience preferred; knowledge of ODJFS Licensing Rules; current First Aid and CPR (or within first six months); computer skills (Microsoft Office and educational web-based programs); ability to work with diverse backgrounds; well organized, detail-oriented, maintain confidentiality; strong communication skills; physical ability to interact with preschool children (lift up to 40 lbs, push, pull, carry, climb, balance, kneel, sit, stand, walk, bend, squat); medical statement with TB test; background check (fingerprinting).
