Job Title: Quality Inspector - 2nd Shift 3:00PM-11:30PM, Monday - Friday
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Job Type: Full-Time

Objectives:
  • Ensures compliance with all Merit Brass quality standards, control plans and quality management system requirements
  • To uphold the Merit Brass corporate mission statement, acting with a sense of urgency and upholding the core values as published.
  • To maintain a professional, ethical and respectful attitude while exercising teamwork
Responsibilities:
  • •Perform in-process inspections of cut-blanks, stamped and threaded nipples according to specifications during the manufacturing stages
  • Perform first piece inspections and approve manufacturing set-ups
  • Perform final inspections of washed nipples according to documented processes
  • Communicates timely and regularly on any required adjustments to manufacturing supervisors
  • Inspect, measure and document special orders (as needed) prior to packaging
  • Perform inspections of Merit purchased products according to the defined criteria and measurements using standard physical and mechanical gages
  • Accurately maintains documentation of traceability information and the results of inspections and testing
  • Strive to achieve Merit Brass production metrics including reduced errors, on-time delivery, accuracy and customer service in a cost-effective manner
  • Ensures work areas and operations conform to safety requirements and are hazard free
Requirements:
  • High school graduate, GED, or equivalent education
  • 3 years minimum experience with a background in manufacturing or inspection of precision machined parts to tight tolerances
  • Proficient use of basic inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.
  • Ability to learn raw material and manufactured product identification numbers
  • Must demonstrate great attention to detail
  • Capable of identifying small very fine imperfections / surface flaws in material
  • Basic computer knowledge and math skills (adding/subtracting whole numbers/fractions, decimals, etc.)
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing information
  • Ability to work individually and/or with others as a team member to continuously improve our company
  • Excellent work habits including punctuality, attendance, and work ethic
  • Standing / bending for entire shift; capable of lifting 50 lbs. continuously and 70 lbs. occasionally from floor-level; pushing and pulling order carts that could weigh up to 200 lbs.
  • Moving, and lifting full lengths of pipe (12 to 24 feet in length)
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
