Quality Control Technician performs inspections to ensure the machining process quality and conformance to show drawings. Working with the team to ensure accuracy of outsourced components, this team member must be familiar with various machining processes.

Job Duties:

• Inspect outsourced components to ensure accuracy of work and conformance to shop drawings.
• Utilize various types of metrology equipment, including:
  • Micrometers
  • Calipers
  • Height gauges
  • Thread gauges
  • Hardness testers
  • Laser alignment systems
• Ensure raw materials used in machining processes conform to shop drawings.
• Designate acceptance or rejection of machined and outsourced components.
• Interface with area supervisors, machinists, and welders to coordinate required repairs and/or replacements.
• Perform visual inspections of shop weldments to verify compliance with shop drawings and applicable AWS standards.
• Oversee ultrasonic shear wave testing (UT), liquid dye penetrant testing (PT), and magnetic particle testing (MT) performed by others.
• Test and measure finished products, components, and assemblies for:
  • Assembly
  • Function
  • Operation
  • Compliance with specified performance requirements
• Oversee third-party calibration of measurement devices.
• Document inspection activities and results and prepare inspection reports.
• Maintain work areas, equipment, and tools in a clean and organized manner.
• Follow all safety guidelines.
• Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning by completing assigned training and seeking opportunities for improvement.
• Support quality processes, including:
  • Document control
  • Management reviews
  • Product projects
  • Corrective actions
  • Calibration systems
  • KPI usage
• Promote supplier quality by managing the NCP/RMA process.
• Assist with internal ISO and process audits.
• Work with local management to address audit findings.
• Work with management to ensure inspections and audits are completed and non-compliances are addressed.
• Assist with emergency action planning and response, including:
  • Site plans and preparedness
  • Regulatory records and reporting
  • Higher-risk work plans
• Support maintenance management system procedures and implementations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

A high school diploma or GED is required; an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in a related discipline is preferred. In the absence of a degree, directly related education, training, certifications, and professional experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position may be considered, where a number of years and proven knowledge may offset the degree requirement.

Experience & Skills:

· Experience in interpretation of fabrication drawings and project specifications

· Experience with various machining processes

· A working knowledge of manufacturers and industry standards, including AWS D1.1 and AWS

D14.1, is a plus but will train the right candidate meeting our cultural requirements

· Certified inspector a plus but will train the right candidate meeting our cultural requirements

· Requires solid written and verbal communication skills

· Strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills are required

· Overall basic IT/PC/Technology literacy a plus but willing to train

· Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined with the ability to multi-task

· Demonstrated mechanical aptitude

· Must successfully complete a criminal background check, physical, drug screen and E-verify
