Reporting to the Children's Learning Center Manager, the lead classroom teacher will provide care and educational opportunities for children enrolled in the program.

Typical functions required of the classroom teacher:

  • To devise and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans that align with the overall program mission and with relevant educational standards
  • To prepare materials to support planned activities
  • To maintain a guidance plan by utilizing proactive strategies, while encouraging positive social behavior
  • To maintain and support a safe learning environment
  • To assist with the inventory and proper utilization of supplies and consumables
  • To establish and maintain home/school connections
  • To utilize and model active listening skills
  • To communicate effectively with the children, families, co-workers, and LCCC's faculty/staff
  • To be a role model for adult learners assigned to the classroom
  • To assist the Children's Learning Center administrators to meet all regulations and program needs

Commodore Kids Teachers are trusted to create developmentally appropriate lesson plans, have access to a multitude of materials and supplies, and are actively involved in the children’s learning.

The LCCC Commodore Kids Children's Learning Center is hiring a part-time lead teacher for our Gold Level Step Up to Quality rated center. The anticipated work schedule for this position is Monday - Friday 12:30pm - 5:30pm in the toddler classroom.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; OCCRRA CPL Level 4
  • Willingness to complete required in-service trainings
  • Must meet all required DCY childcare staff member licensing regulations, including extensive background check
  • Minimum of 1 year toddler teaching experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work with young children and families

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current approved training in CPR/First Aid, Management of Communicable Disease, and Child Abuse Recognition
  • 3 years teaching experience
  • Current State of Ohio Associate Teaching License or eligibility for licensure
  • Familiarity with Conscious Discipline and the Ohio Early Learning Assessment
