Position Summary:
The Workers’ Compensation Specialist manages claims from intake to resolution, serving as a resource and liaison for employees, ensuring compliance with regulations, analyzing data and metrics, fostering safety awareness, and coordinating with insurance carriers and medical providers. |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the entire lifecycle of workers’ compensation claims, from initial reporting, resolution, and settlement. | |
Serve as a primary point of contact for employees, providing information on WC benefits, assisting with claims forms, and acting as a resource for managers regarding procedures and policies. | |
Maintain effective communication with injured employees, medical providers, insurance carriers, and other relevant parties to facilitate information exchange and expedite claim processing. | |
Track, compile, and analyze data on claims frequency, severity, and costs to identify trends. | |
Ensure claims handling procedures and documentation adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local workers' compensation laws and company policies. | |
Assist in accident investigations, provide training on incident reporting procedures, and contribute to efforts to reduce workplace injuries and improve safety awareness. | |
Manage relationships with insurance carriers, brokers, and other service providers to ensure effective program administration. | |
Implement and maintain systems for tracking and managing claims data. |
Required Education and Experience:
Required Education |
Bachelor's degree or a Combination of education, training, and experience. |
Required Years of Experience |
2-4 years of work experience in Workers’ Compensation or Safety. |
Additional Requirements: |
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. |
Strong organizational, time-management, and documentation skills. |
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS systems, and claim management software. |
Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status). |
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Certifications:
Multi-state experience. |
Experience managing claims in Canada. |
Strong knowledge of EHS KPIs. |
