KPMG is currently seeking a Senior Specialist to join our Managed Services practice.
- Lead the delivery of Workday Payroll solutions within a managed services or post-production support framework, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing across complex client environments
- Configure, test, and maintain Workday Payroll modules, including earnings, deductions, tax configurations, period schedules, and retroactive processing, in alignment with both regulatory and client-specific requirements
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in troubleshooting payroll issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective and preventative solutions to ensure compliance and operational efficiency; act as a strategic advisor to clients, supporting payroll audits, compliance initiatives, reporting needs, year-end activities, and Workday updates/releases
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying automation opportunities, supporting integration with third-party systems (for example: tax vendors, benefits providers), and optimizing payroll workflows for scale and efficiency
- Collaborate cross-functionally with HCM, Time Tracking, Absence, and Finance teams to ensure seamless end-to-end payroll processing and data integrity
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior consultants and support staff
- Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG's respectful and courteous work environment
- Minimum three years of recent client-facing experience in Workday Finance; experience should include support of Workday clients for a managed services organization and/or participation in at least one full-scale implementation of Workday Payroll
- MBA or MIS from an accredited college/university is preferred; minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in human resources, business administration, information systems, accounting, or a related field; required Workday certification in Workday US Payroll; please note that any candidate hired by KPMG into this position that doesn't currently hold the aforementioned certification will be required to secure them within three months from the commencement of employment
- In-depth understanding of U.S. payroll processes, labor and tax compliance, retro and off-cycle processing, and Workday payroll configuration capabilities; Strong knowledge of Workday release management, security configuration, and reporting (including Payroll Register, Pay Results, and Audit Reports); prior experience with unionized payrolls, multi-state taxation, benefit integrations, or gross-to-net calculations is a plus; ability to stay updated with Workday features, tools, and best practices through continuous learning and training
- Experience working in a managed services, AMS, or post-production support environment, with a proven track record of client service excellence and timely issue resolution
- Understanding of ITIL framework, ITSM and service desk management; solid understanding of process reengineering, designing and implementing business performance management enhancements including process workflow, approvals and reporting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders; excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Ability to travel as required

California Salary Range: $91000 - $177400
