In 1984, Ken Guy Kuryla and Joyce Marie Kuryla formed KGK in Hudson, Ohio. Originally formed as a full-service landscape firm, KGK quickly impacted Northeast Ohio by symbolizing doing the right thing, quality over quantity, professionalism, problem solving, and design creativity. Surrounded by a gifted and talented team, KGK quickly raised the standard of design, construction, and performance. In 2017, KGK announced the official addition of Derek Lynn Kuryla to establish the second generation of the firm. With an extensive background and passion for landscape architecture, urban design, and planning, KGK began to expand their brand. Their partnership created a common goal of success through meeting the needs of their clients, facing and solving design challenges, and shaping the built and natural environment. Since then, KGK has evolved into a high-end residential and commercial landscape architecture firm that also serves the landscape construction industry. Without being isolated to one ‘box,’ KGK blends a high level of design and/or construction for various quasi-scale projects. Today, KGK continues to strive for excellence through its guiding process of engage, design, and implement. This process allows KGK to take on diverse challenges, whether public, private, civic, social, environmental, commercial, or residential. We choose to define ourselves. We are not a design-only firm; we are not a design-build firm; we are not a construction firm; we are KGK.
