  • Student must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field

Under the supervision of the Chief Product Metallurgist, the incumbent executes assigned projects and responsibilities. This position communicates with suppliers, customers, Production personnel, QA personnel, and development personnel. The incumbent may also be involved in material and process development programs under the direction of the Chief Product Metallurgist.

Under the direction of the Chief Product Metallurgist, this position may be accountable for:

  • Providing metallurgical control support for product and process activities relative to forgings
  • Coordinating and conducting assigned development programs leading to improved products and processes
  • Interfacing with customer representatives on Alcoa product and metallurgical quality issues
  • Monitoring and interfacing with outside suppliers for compliance to stated requirements. Includes assigning, determining and providing for corrective actions as required
  • Acting as a project manager for multifunctional teams on process improvement activities and new product qualifications
  • Implementing and supporting continuous improvement and stability activities such as Process Management
