GPD is currently seeking a Permit Coordinator Specialist in our Akron and Columbus, OH office locations.
The Permit Coordinator Specialist is responsible for coordinating permit submittal, tracking, and issuance and acts as a liaison between GPD Group and the authorities having jurisdiction. The Permitting Coordinator/Expeditor role will navigate and drive jurisdictional requirements to expedite the approval process for projects across the country. Daily activities include researching existing requirements, completing and compiling submittal requirements, occasional site visits, collaboration with key stakeholders, and building relationships with jurisdictional representatives. To succeed in this role, the candidate needs to be highly self-organized and possess a willingness to push on AHJ review for status updates and overdue tasks, complete forms and filings in-person when required, and utilize CAD to support project submittals. Confidentiality and professionalism are essential traits for success in this role.
Role Qualifications:
  • Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in planning, Business, Communications, Architecture, Engineering, Design, or Construction Management.
  • Ability to work with jurisdictions and accurately fill out permit applications and respond to comments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and work individually.
  • Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Experience in supporting architects and engineers in design and documentation for project work preferred.
  • Experience in developing construction documents and engineering reports preferred.
  • Bluebeam and MS Office products experience preferred.
  • AutoCAD experience preferred.
  • Field survey and construction administration experience preferred.
  • Candidate must be organized and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a team environment working with individuals from various offices and in various disciplines.
  • Ability to communicate directly with clients.
  • Ability to resolve issues from municipalities, architects, engineers, contractors and clients.
  • Ability to be in the field and/or complete a project site visit.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
Role Responsibilities:
  • Planning, documentation, and engineering design with an emphasis in Telecommunications Infrastructure projects.
  • Performs site and building feasibility and due diligence reports.
  • Researches and understands the filing requirements for authority having jurisdiction based on project scope of work.
  • Coordinates permit submittals, corrections, approvals, and pick-ups.
  • Resolves issues from municipalities, architects, engineers, contractors and clients.
  • Occasional preparation of submittal documentation utilizing AutoCAD.
  • Maintains organized and detailed office records and files.
  • Generates and manage permitting timelines and schedules.
  • Creates and tracks project information in relation to the progress of various permitting processes.
  • Interacts with the building department on a daily basis or as needed to obtain successful approvals for construction activities.
  • Develops and maintains data base of critical jurisdictional decision makers.
  • Occasional travel for site visits is required. Travel to sites will mainly be in the Midwest market but at times could be regional. Locations can vary from urban buildings and utility poles to rural and remote.
  • Provides administrative assistance to other teams when requested.
