Position Purpose:

This role is responsible for efficiently sorting and processing soft-line donations while maintaining high-quality standards. It directly supports the retail sales floor, ensuring a seamless flow of merchandise and exceptional donor and customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities include:

Sorting & Processing

  • Quickly sort soft line donations (e.g., apparel) into salable and salvage categories based on agency standards.
  • Inspect items for quality, including tears, stains, odors, missing buttons, and broken zippers.
  • Transport salable apparel to the sales floor, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
  • Maintain accurate sorting and salvage counts while meeting performance goals.

Customer Engagement

  • Greet and thank donors and customers with professionalism and courtesy, ensuring 100% satisfaction.

Quality Assurance & Maintenance

  • Stay informed about brand names, maker's marks, current trends, vintage finds, and price points.
  • Ensure the sorting and processing area is always clean, organized, and safe.
  • Assist with additional store needs, including apparel rotation, floor maintenance, and dressing room upkeep.

Experience & Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others.
  • Keen eye for detail, including recognizing different shades and tones of color.
  • Knowledge of merchandise categories, including name brands, antiques, vintage items, and collectibles.
  • Experience with computers is a plus, but not required.
