Department: Transportation Reports To: Transportation Supervisor Location: Evergreen Cooperative Laundry – Cleveland, OH Position Summary The Utility Driver supports Evergreen Cooperative Laundry’s transportation operations by training new drivers, covering routes during absences, and ensuring that our fleet remains safe, clean, and fully operational. This role is essential in maintaining excellent customer service and reliability for our healthcare partners. Key Responsibilities Driver Training - Train and onboard new drivers on Evergreen’s delivery routes, safety standards, and customer service expectations.
- Conduct ride-along to provide coaching, feedback, and route familiarization.
Route Coverage - Serve as a fill-in driver for scheduled vacations, call-offs, or unexpected absences.
- Execute delivery and pick-up routes with accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism.
- Covers any route upon request
Fleet Maintenance & Servicing - Inspect vehicles daily for cleanliness, safety compliance, and operational readiness.
- Transport trucks to Ryder or approved service providers for maintenance and repairs.
- Assist with coordinating truck servicing schedules to reduce downtime.
Compliance & Documentation - Maintain accurate and up-to-date driver logs, inspection sheets, and service records in compliance with DOT and Evergreen policies.
- Follow all traffic, DOT, and safety regulations to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Other Duties - Support transportation and warehouse teams as needed to meet business demands.
- Report safety concerns, equipment issues, or operational challenges promptly.
Qualifications - Valid Driver’s License (CDL) – Class B (minimum; Class A preferred).
- Clean driving record (no major violations).
- At least 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably in delivery or transportation.
- Strong communication and leadership skills for training and mentoring.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed.
- Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs. during delivery operations.
