Job Summary:
The Chemist is responsible for supporting product development, formulation, testing, and manufacturing processes within a chemical manufacturing environment. This role serves as a technical contributor, partnering with R&D, Quality, Operations, Regulator, and Sales to ensure products are safe, compliant, high-quality, and meet customer and business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Development
- Develop, test, and optimize chemical formulations for new and existing products.
- Conduct laboratory experiments to evaluate product performance, stability, and compatibility.
- Support scale-up activities from lab batches to pilot and full production.
- Maintain accurate documentation of formulations, test results, and procedures.
- Assist in evaluating and qualifying raw materials and suppliers.
- Collaborate with cross-function teams to meet project timelines and product requirements.
- Ensure formulations comply with applicable regulations.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and product data sheets.
- Support regulatory reporting and audits as needed.
- Follow proper handling, storage, and disposal procedures for hazardous materials.
- Perform quality control testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Assist in investigating product non-conformances and customer complaints.
- Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective preventive actions (CAPA).
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for laboratory and manufacturing processes.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing teams during production runs.
- Troubleshoot formulation or processing issues related to blending, mixing, and material compatibility.
- Assist with batch record review and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Support process improvements to enhance efficiency, consistency, and product quality.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or stem field.
- 1-5 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, laboratory, or product development environment preferred.
- Experience with formulation, testing, or analytical methods is a plus.
- Aerosol experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of chemical handling and laboratory safety practices.
- Experience with common laboratory equipment and analytical techniques.
- Knowledge of regulatory and safety requirements for chemical products.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation practices.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
