LLD Clerk - Youth Programming

GENERAL SUMMARY
Under moderate supervision, performs a variety of customer service and clerical functions to support Youth programming and other services including answering phones, support for customers, various programming initiatives, and maintaining daily records. Incumbent performs typing and other clerical duties as assigned including communicating and coordinating scheduling of presenters.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required include:
- Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices.
- Skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors, and/or representatives of other agencies.
- Ability to demonstrate proficient use of personal computer software or systems applicable to the essential functions of the job, which may include (but not be limited to) email/calendar software, internet/intranet browsers, word processing, spreadsheets, database software, and various systems or software used by CCPL.
- Skill in operation of typical office equipment such as personal computer, facsimile, copiers, scanners, calculators, and telephones.
- Ability to demonstrate basic levels of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and simple mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, ratios, etc. Ability to detect basic errors and make corrections as directed and under established procedures.
- Ability to accurately organize and maintain paper documents and electronic files.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Complies with Cuyahoga County Public Library’s policies, rules, guidelines, procedures, requirements, standards, and practices applicable to the job, including (but not limited to) work scheduling and attendance, customer service, use of Library property, computer use, personal conduct, and confidentiality.
- Process requests and charges materials in according to established policies and procedures and notifies patrons of overdue materials and outstanding fines.
- Assists with coordinating and scheduling the logistics and equipment of ITL Youth programs and services.
- Files and organizes documents related to Youth ITL programming and services.
- Collects and compiles statistics on Youth ITL programming.
- Places holds on materials as directed.
- Assists with travel and programming arrangements.
- Monitors department supply inventory and replenishes when needed.
- Enters program descriptions into library events and calendar software.
- Performs additional clerical functions such as making copies, answering the phone, composing correspondence, sorting and distributing mail, etc.
- Tracks, processes and verifies invoices for ITL library materials and program related expenses.
Summary Minimum Education & Experience Required
- High school diploma or GED preferably included or supplemented by course work in office practices.
- One or more years of clerical and customer service experience.
OTHER TESTING/LICENSES REQUIRED
- A criminal background check is required, and pre-employment drug screening.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- No major sources of working conditions discomfort, i.e. standard work environment with possible minor inconveniences due to occasional noise, crowded working conditions, and/or minor heating, cooling or ventilation problems.
- Work requires routine lifting of moderately heavy items, such as computer equipment or records boxes (over 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds), pushing full carts, and/or standing for long periods of time and/or frequent stooping or bending.
- Involves frequent use of computer terminal.
