Full job description

Criterion Precision is a family-owned precision machining company in Greater Cleveland and we've built our reputation on doing things right. That means investing in the best equipment, maintaining an air-conditioned facility that machinists actually want to work in, and treating our team like the skilled professionals they are. If you're a CNC Milling Set-Up Operator who takes craftsmanship seriously, we want to talk.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a skilled CNC Milling Set-Up Operator to join our Milling Department on a schedule — Monday through Thursday, 6:00am–4:30pm; Fridays: 6:00am–12:00pm. You'll take programs, set tools, prepare machines, and own the process from first article approval through production completion. This role demands precision, initiative, and someone who understands that quality isn't a checkbox — it's a standard.

What You'll Do

▸ Set up CNC milling machines per supervisor direction; document tooling and processes on set-up sheets

▸ Take programs, set tools, and prepare machines for production runs of close-tolerance precision components

▸ Obtain first article QC approval before releasing to full production

▸ Perform CNC and manual milling, drilling, tapping, deburring, and related operations

▸ Load parts, monitor cycle times, and recommend process improvements

▸ Inspect machined components and document results to ensure conformance to print

▸ Interpret engineering drawings, apply GD&T, and perform G-code and interactive programming

▸ Assist with tooling management and inventory

▸ Identify and report defective materials or out-of-spec conditions to management

▸ Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with safety procedures

▸ Flex to other work areas as production demands require

What We're Looking For

Required:

▸ High school diploma or technical/vocational school certificate

▸ Minimum 1 year of CNC milling experience in a precision manufacturing environment

▸ Proficiency in CNC milling set-up and operation

▸ Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing (GD&T)

▸ Working knowledge of G-code and interactive CNC programming

▸ Proficiency with precision measurement tools — micrometers, calipers, gauges

▸ Strong math skills and attention to detail

Preferred (you'll stand out):

▸ 2+ years of CNC milling set-up experience

▸ Experience with Fanuc F01MD, HAAS, and Brother C00 Controls.

▸ Background machining small, tight-tolerance precision components

▸ Experience with microscope inspection on small or intricate parts

What Criterion Offers You

▸ Competitive pay commensurate with your experience and skill level

▸ Schedule — Monday through Thursday, 6:00am–4:30pm; Fridays: 6:00am–12:00pm

▸ Overtime opportunities at time-and-a-half when production demands it

▸ Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance

▸ 401(k) with company match — we invest in your future

▸ Paid time off and vacation

▸ Tuition reimbursement — we support your continued development

▸ Air-conditioned, modern facility — a workplace you'll be proud to come to

▸ Family-owned company culture — you're a person here, not a number

▸ Cutting-edge CNC milling equipment and a team that takes quality seriously
