Program starts May 27, and ends August 19. $17.00 per hour. Additional pay for returning staff and program leaders. Under the supervision of the Recreation Manager, assist clients who are blind, have low vision and some with other disabilities to successfully participate in a diverse range of recreational activities and fieldtrips. Recreational activities take place at Cleveland Sight Center’s primary location at 1909 East 101st Street in Cleveland, Ohio, virtually and at a variety of sites throughout the greater Cleveland area. The summer assistant will be responsible for recreation participation, helping clients and safety during activities. Training is provided. Employees must be age 18 by the first day of work. Must be able to pass a criminal background check. Essential functions:

Physical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical ability to ambulate, lift, push wheelchair, walk long distances, stand, hike, participate in recreational games and activities. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and have the ability to stand, sit, bend. Must have the capacity to travel with or without clients; ability to go out in the community with clients. Once hired, the employee must have reliable transportation. If driving for agency, must have current and sufficient automobile insurance and an acceptable driving record.
