Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT) is one of North America’s premier processors, buyers, sellers, and recyclers of scrap metals of all kinds and is a key supplier to the metals industry of North America. FPT is a wholly-owned business of Cleveland-Cliffs and has an immediate opportunity for an Accounting Clerk at our Cleveland, Ohio location. The Accounting Clerk will apply accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare support for the Accounts Receivable department.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Prepare, record, verify, analyze, and report accounts receivable transactions, and post customer payments on a timely basis
• Maintain and reconcile accounts receivable ledger accounts, financial statements, and reports
• Produce reports of accounts that are in arrears and analyses of bad debt, and prepare analyses and reconciliations of bill runs to detect fraud
• Research and resolve escalated accounting inquiries develop policies and procedures for the Accounts Receivable department
• Produce and analyze Accounts Receivable reports and assist with monthly closings
• Prepare account statements, reports, and other records, and review for accuracy
• Review, balance, and interpret computer reports and make corrections
• Assist employees, vendors, clients, or customers by answering accounts, procedures, and service questions
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• 2-4 years related experience
• Proficient in MS Office programs (Excel, Outlook, Word)
• Associates degree in Accounting or related discipline preferred
• 1 year of related experience with journal entries, general ledger, month-end close preferred
