Position Summary: CHN’s Community Building and Engagement platform drives, enhances and deepens the connection between residents of CHN’s housing and the organization’s mission. Through this work, we seek to strengthen CHN’s relationship with its tenants, foster resident leadership, and have a positive impact/be a value add to the communities we serve.
The Manager of Community Building and Engagement will work with CHN’s Assistant Director of Family Success to develop, implement, and evaluate CHN’s comprehensive community development strategy. This includes strategies to identify, empower, and support resident leaders; strengthen resident networks; and develop community-building activities and initiatives to deepen relationships between CHN, its tenants, and neighborhoods it works in.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic, self-directed, highly organized leader possessing experience with community outreach and organizing, program development, project management, and staff supervision. The ideal candidate takes a human-centered and solution-driven approach to building relationships and networks, working collaboratively to help people reach their full potential.
This position requires alternative work availability to meet programming goals and resident needs. To ensure residents can access on-site supportive services, the Manager of Community Building and Engagement may be required to work on select evenings and/or weekends (with advance notice).
The rate of pay for this position is $62,000 - $66,000 per year, commensurate with experience (FLSA Exempt)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with organizational leadership to develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive community development strategy for resident engagement and leadership.
  • Cultivate and expand working relationships and partnerships with CHN departments, agencies, and organizations.
  • Develop resources, coordinate and lead workshops/trainings and events, and/or identify and oversee consultants to assist with direct delivery of programming.
  • Supervise one full time staff member and together oversee and implement a variety of programs and support services which will include interns and volunteers to deliver quality services to the CHN community.
  • Act as a liaison between residents and internal teams, elevating resident concerns and insights.
  • Work with organizational leadership and residents to plan, develop, implement, track and report on CB&E’s annual goals.
  • Manage CHN’s Resident Engagement Council ensuring a connection between CHN’s Board of Directors and the Lease Purchase residents.
  • Track and analyze key engagement metrics for internal insights, funder reporting, and grant proposals.
  • Establish methods of gathering resident feedback (surveys, listening sessions, focus groups) and partner with program leadership to translate that feedback into actionable improvements.
  • Work with department leadership to establish and manage the overall CB&E budget.

  • Bachelor’s degree
Experience:
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in community organizing, resident services, social work, and/or related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership and program building success, including in effective management of programs with multiple moving parts, including a track record for developing and executing effective coalitions and campaigns.
  • Demonstrated ability to network, build internal and external relationships, and mobilize coalitions.
  • A track record of showing initiative and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong cultural competence in working with and within diverse communities, and a commitment to equity and inclusion as fundamental elements of community programming.
  • Exceptional communication skills; experience with training, leading workshops, and/or other forms of public speaking .
  • Willingness to travel locally and regionally.
Preferred:
  • Master’s degree
  • Expertise in program development
  • Strong understanding of data management
