Position Summary: Scholar House is a 40-unit service enriched apartment building for adults completing post secondary education programs, and their families. The Scholar House Family Coach provides case management and support services to families residing in the Cleveland Scholar House. The Family Coach will be responsible for providing 1:1 coaching/counseling to families to help them reach personal and financial goals. The Scholar House Family Coach will also stay up-to-date on other resources that may be beneficial to Scholar House residents. Additionally, the Family Coach will work with service providers and community partners to coordinate 2-generational group activities, parent enrichment opportunities and connect residents to additional services.
This position requires alternative work availability to meet programming goals and resident needs. To ensure Scholar House residents can access on-site supportive services, the Family Coach is required to work evenings and weekends. At least one (1) Saturday shift will be required once per quarter.
The rate of pay for this position is $50,000 - $52,000 per year, commensurate with experience (paid at an hourly rate, FLSA Non-Exempt)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Hold one-on-one meetings with each resident of Scholar House (40-units) once per semester to identify and support the household in reaching goals (financial, personal, post-educational, career, housing, etc..). Work alongside resident to develop 2-generational engagement and action plans for household members, provide case management and support to families in Scholar House throughout their tenancy.
  • Provide support services to residents, including referrals and connection to external programs. Pre-residential and post-program participants will be provided with case management as requested.
  • Oversight and coordination of on-site resident-only resources including the food pantry, playroom and computer lab.
  • Serve as CHN staff liaison for the Resident Advisory Council (RAC) board.
  • In partnership with management, maintain a regular activities calendar for Scholar House. Facilitate family circles, support Scholar House parent leadership committee, organize parent-centered and two-generational information sessions, and social and recreational activities to support the goals of case management.
  • Coordinate with other service providers to ensure that additional wraparound services are being provided to Scholar House families.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case management records and notes on all Scholar House resident households.
  • Maintain knowledge of community, educational, workforce, and social service resources including those that provide food stamps, child support, TANF, subsidized housing programs, and emergency housing assistance.
  • In partnership with program leadership, support routine evaluation efforts of Scholar House. This includes participating in listening sessions with families/residents, administering and collecting surveys, reviewing data, and refining programs based off of findings.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for visiting vendors and community members.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Required:
Education:
  • Associates degree or higher required
Experience:
  • 2+ years experience in providing case management
  • 2+ years experience in a social service setting
  • 2+ years administering programs for youth and/or families
Skills:
  • Excellent computer skills and organizational skills
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Team player
  • Ability to interact with a diverse population
  • Comfortable learning and adapting to CHN’s CRM/databases
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suites
Other:
  • Travel to training event(s) may be required
  • Valid Driver’s License, reliable personal vehicle and current automobile insurance
Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Education and Social Work degrees preferred)
  • Experience providing academic, financial, housing and/or job coaching or counseling
  • Experience working with youth and/or families on goal-setting and supporting them in reaching outlined goals
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
