The Central School of Practical Nursing in Cleveland, Ohio, is one of the state’s oldest Practical Nursing programs. Since its origin, the school has prepared Ohio students to promote health and wellness all over the state through its intensive rotation programs in many of Northeast Ohio’s professional clinics. Classes begin every six months, so you can apply at any time throughout the year with minimal waiting time. To allow a variety of students to join Ohio’s team of health care professionals, the school maintains an open admissions policy. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, and pass the CSPN entrance exam. The nursing academics available at the school include a comprehensive 46-week program that is divided into four components. Classes are conducted four days a week, with two days dedicated to classroom instruction and the other two for clinical training. Besides clinical experiences, you will also learn through patient simulation laboratory assignments. Your training will include certification in Intravenous Therapy, which will only add to your special skills and set you apart from other nursing students in the area. To fully support your training experience, the school offers plenty of student services to help you handle stress, make the best out of your time management skills, and develop effective communication skills. The program can be completed in as little as a year, which allows students to enter the health care workforce of Ohio as soon as possible. Students who file a FAFSA and demonstrate need will be considered to receive financial aid through Pell Grants, scholarships, and Stafford loans. Eligible Cuyahoga residents who are admitted will receive money toward their tuition costs.
