Elyria Catholic High School is seeking a Social Studies Teacher for the 2026 - 2027 school year.

Founded in 1947 by Monsignor William Newton, Elyria Catholic High School has been shaping the next generation of saints and leaders for over 75 years. As the only Catholic high school in Lorain County, we take pride in being a close-knit, faith-filled community where students are known, challenged, and supported. With 530 students in grades nine through twelve, we provide a personalized education that nurtures both mind and heart. Thanks to innovative teaching tools and ongoing professional development for our faculty, we’re equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and faith to make a difference. Rooted in our mission—" to empower young adults to identify and use their God-given gifts to learn, worship, and serve, guided by Catholic tradition"—we are preparing students not just for college and careers, but for lives of purpose and leadership.

Responsibilities include:

  • Understand and witness the school and diocesan mission.
  • Teach social studies courses by implementing the curriculum in accordance with the standards set forth by the Diocese of Cleveland and the State of Ohio.

  • Create a classroom and school environment that enables students to reach their full potential.
  • Use student data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Integrate technology to improve student learning.
  • Commit to continually improving instructional practice.
  • Work collaboratively with students and coworkers.
  • Communicate proactively and professionally with parents.
  • Adhere to school and diocesan policies and procedures.
  • Attend school functions as determined by the Principal.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies, History, Political Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Current Ohio teaching license or willingness to obtain teaching certification.
