Job Posting Position: Church Custodian & Facilities Maintenance (Multi-Location) Organization: St. Teresa of Avila & St. Anthony of Padua Parishes Location: Sheffield Village, OH & Lorain, OH Job Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly) Schedule: Up to 29 hours per week (Schedule may vary based on seasons and events) Compensation: $17.00 per hour

About Our Parish: St. Teresa of Avila and St. Anthony of Padua are partner Catholic parishes dedicated to serving our faith communities. We are seeking a reliable, skilled, and proactive individual to ensure our sacred spaces, parish halls, and grounds at both locations are clean, safe, and well-maintained for our parishioners and visitors.

Job Summary: The Custodian plays a vital role in the stewardship of both parish facilities. We are looking for a "jack-of-all-trades" who takes pride in keeping the facilities sparkling clean but also possesses the hands-on skills necessary to handle groundskeeping and moderate building repairs across multiple sites. You will work independently to manage daily upkeep and respond to seasonal needs, ensuring consistency of standards at both the St. Teresa (Sheffield Village) and St. Anthony (Lorain) locations. Key Responsibilities: - Facilities Maintenance & Repair (Both Locations) - Perform light-to-moderate general maintenance tasks.

This includes, but is not limited to : - Electrical: Replacing light bulbs, ballasts, running wiring, and minor fixture repairs. - Plumbing: Fixing leaky faucets, replacing faucets / plumbing fixtures, running toilets, and unclogging drains. - Carpentry/General: hanging items, drywall patching, painting touch-ups, fixing door hardware, and general labor repairs. - Proactively identify maintenance issues and report major problems requiring licensed contractors to the Parish Administrator. Groundskeeping (Both Locations) - Lawn Care: Seasonal mowing, trimming, weeding, and general upkeep of church grounds. - Snow Removal: Timely shoveling and salting of all sidewalks, steps, and main entryways during winter months to ensure safe access for Mass and events (Must be reliable during inclement weather). Janitorial Services (Both Locations) - Routine cleaning of the restrooms, parish hall, offices, and church (if needed). - Tasks include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, sanitizing surfaces, emptying trash, and restocking supplies. - Floor maintenance as needed. Event Support (Both Locations) - Support church and parish functions, including community dinners, fundraisers, and social gatherings. - Set up tables, chairs, and specialized equipment required for diverse events in the parish hall or on church grounds. - Ensure the facility is prepared to welcome guests and perform prompt breakdown and clean up of the space following the conclusion of events.

Qualifications and Skills: - Previous experience in custodial work, building maintenance, or a related trade is highly desired. - Demonstrated ability to perform basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs safely. - Experience operating common groundskeeping equipment (lawnmowers, weed whackers, snow blowers). - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively. - Reliability and a strong work ethic are essential. - A respectful demeanor supportive of the mission and environment of a Catholic Church. - A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required as this position involves travel between locations. - Subject to background checks (Diocesan policy requires successful completion of a comprehensive criminal background check; applicants should have no criminal record or convictions for job consideration). Physical Demands: - This position is physically demanding. Candidates must be able to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly. - Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and reach frequently. - Must be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, snow, rain).
