MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN BASIC FUNCTIONS: Responsible for maintaining all St. Ladislas Catholic Church property in an acceptable condition in concert with the Director of Parish Operations.
STATUS/CLASSIFICATION: Part-time (15-20 hours/week), Non-exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Parish Operations
JOB WORK SHIFTS: Job is part time with the following schedule: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 12:00pm - 5:00pm or 1:00pm - 6:00pm. This position would also include some weekend duties depending on parish functions and events.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform scheduled building maintenance by applying knowledge of general carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanics. Assignments include but are not limited to the following: • General cleaning for the facilities includes but not limited to moping, sweeping, dusting. • Room setup/take down including tables, chairs and other meeting materials and equipment. • General Carpentry skills • Repair locksets. • Shave/trim entrance doors, cabinet doors, and drawers. • Miter cut and install wood trim work. • Repair faucets and automatic flushers. • Replace faucets and automatic flushers. • Unclog drains/toilets/urinals. • Replace shower heads and controls. • Replace light bulbs and ballasts. • Have general knowledge of boiler systems and flow pumps. • Have general knowledge of multiple unit HVAC systems. • Perform wall repair, painting and application of wall covering. • Perform procedures to ensure extended life of floor surfaces; stripping, applying finish, buffing, as well as carpet cleaning when needed. • Troubleshoot failed machinery/equipment to determine cause for failure and repair. • Ensure safe walkways on properties throughout the winter season by shoveling and/or plowing snow and applying ice melt. • Research, purchase parts, supplies and equipment related to maintenance needs. • Maintain clean and organized equipment and storage room. • Keep accurate inventory of tools and supplies, records of repairs, records of performed maintenance, costs, etc. Advise of necessary repairs or corrective actions, provide maintenance updates to Director of Parish Operations. • Complete duties using safe work habits and provide for the safety of other personnel while performing repairs and maintenance. • Move furniture and equipment as necessary. • Cut grass, drive riding mower, and use various outdoor machines including but not limited to a power washer, weed trimmer, edger, snow blower, and salt sidewalks. SKILLS: • Ability to apply and exercise good judgment and safety standards. • Possesses the ability to work well with limited or direct supervision. • Ability to work off a ladder up to 20’. • Must be flexible and able to handle multiple tasks at one time. • Demonstrated skill in creating written communications for colleagues and staff regarding safety measures, newly installed systems, etc. • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds. • Must have competent working knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, roofing, mechanics, and HVAC. • Valid Ohio Driver’s License and good driving record • At least one year maintenance experience required.
EDUCATION/TRAINING: • Degree: High School Diploma or Equivalent • Credentials in electrical and plumbing trades a plus • Must pass appropriate background checks.
