Location: Cleveland, Ohio

Schedule: Hybrid | Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Pay Range: $100,000–$145,000/yr. (Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, education, and internal equity.)

We are seeking an Owner’s Representative to join our team in either our Cleveland, OH, Cincinnati, OH, or Columbus, OH office.

General Description

This position requires an individual with considerable experience in protecting and promoting a construction owner’s interests and expectations during a construction project. The individual will support the firm's clients and internal stakeholders through the various phases of construction — including preconstruction, construction, and close-out phases.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: “Essential functions” are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer.

  • Track, monitor, and evaluate every aspect of a construction project and project team.
  • Ability to recognize issues at an early stage and make proactive recommendations.
  • Assist with the selection, negotiation with, and oversight of design professionals, general contractors, construction managers at risk and design-build contractors.
  • Provide advice and consultation with respect to design, value engineering, scope of the work, quality of work, schedule, and cost estimating during a construction project.
  • Review and evaluate schedule of values, applications for payment and change orders.
  • Prepare, organize and maintain documentation of project issues and other construction project files.
  • Serve as a liaison between construction project teams and the project owner.
  • Participate in regular project meetings with owner, design team and contractor.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with contractual and statutory obligations.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing procurement documents for design and construction services.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a construction related field.
  • Experience with Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) project delivery method required.
  • Project or construction management experience.
  • Experience representing owners on public or private construction projects.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Familiarity with construction scheduling software such a Primavera and project tracking software such as Procore.
  • Familiarity with Ohio prevailing wage requirements and Davis-Bacon prevailing wage requirements.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and consensus-building skills to work closely and successfully with attorneys, client, vendors, peers and team members.
  • Exemplary presentation, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and iManage document management system.
  • Project management skills, including demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize, analyze, organize, attend to detail, follow through, delegate and negotiate.
  • Comfortable with presenting to clients and other groups.
  • Provides high quality, professional experiences to clients, leaders, and team members.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Working knowledge of construction contracts, including AIA and EJCDC Documents.
  • Familiarity with public procurement processes.
  • Experience with dispute resolution processes such as mediation, arbitration, and litigation support related to construction claims is a plus.
