ROLE OBJECTIVE:

The RF & Electrical Engineer III is responsible for RF system-level, product, and board-level design in an agile engineering environment. He/she will interact with other team members, sales, marketing, manufacturing, and quality assurance to design and test new products and maintain existing products. Technical product ownership will be assigned where needed. He/she will provide mentorship to engineers and technicians.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS/SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

System-level design, including block diagrams, specifications, and test requirements

Design new RF, analog, and digital circuitry which meet or exceed provided performance and cost criteria

Design and test new products in accordance with standards that include specifications, design, schedules, and specific task assignments

Lead design reviews, product introduction, and other technical meetings

Contribute to product strategy development and portfolio planning

Provide technical expertise to senior-level management

Participate in all agile ceremonies including release planning, story writing, backlog grooming, and estimating

Benchmark products or technology from competitors

Act as a mentor to other engineers and technicians to help improve and develop their engineering skills

Develop an environment of continual improvement through the use of Agile and Lean tools

Technical support and sustaining engineering for manufacturing operations in areas of expertise

Technical assistance to sales, customer service and customers as required

Technical assistance to purchasing for vendor or parts selection

Establish clear communication between engineering groups and NPI members to establish an integrated, coherent product and project execution.

Communicate complex technical & design requirements to a widely varied cross-functional audience such that product objectives are clearly understood by all stakeholders.

Ensure that the system satisfies the customer’s requirements, with the least economic impact to the company, and direct the team in instances of underdesign, scope creep, and overdesign.

REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/COMPETENCIES (Applicant must meet all to be considered):

BS degree in electrical engineering required, MS degree preferred

Comprehensive understanding of RF theory, system design, signal management, and measurement

Thorough understanding of RF, analog, and digital hardware design techniques, including transmission lines, directional couplers, detectors, amplifiers, LNAs, oscillators, filters, power supplies, microprocessors, and peripherals

Thorough understanding of modern circuit simulators (e.g., ADS, AWR, Genesys, LTspice) and high-frequency structure simulators (e.g., HFSS, CST)

Thorough understanding of PCB design software (e.g., Altium)

Thorough understanding of RF test equipment (e.g,. VNA, spectrum analyzer, signal generator)

Ability to give clear technical instruction and direction to other engineers

Operate computer and keyboard; able to use phone; sit for long periods; communicate using speech, hearing, and vision skills.

DESIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/COMPETENCIES (Applicants may be considered even if they do not possess any or all of these):

Fifteen or more years of experience in the design and manufacture of RF equipment or test instruments for use in broadcast or wireless industries

Experience in instruction or training of other engineers in all aspects of RF, analog, and digital hardware design

Experience in rapid prototyping techniques for circuit board design (e.g., LPKF Protolaser)

Experience in rapid prototyping techniques for 3D structures (i.e. 3D printers)

Programming experience with languages such as Python, C, or Java

Thorough understanding of uncertainty budgets and statistical analysis

Demonstrates a history of innovation (e.g. patents, novel solution,s or designs)
