Overview
The Business Systems Analyst (BSA II) serves as a strategic partner, leading the alignment of complex business needs with advanced IT solutions. The BSA II takes ownership of eliciting, analyzing, validating, and managing the comprehensive requirements of diverse stakeholders, customers, and end users. The analyst not only drives collaboration between stakeholders and technical teams but also ensures that system solutions support and advance organizational strategy.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary liaison between stakeholders, sponsors, and IT project and delivery teams, facilitating strategic alignment across all stages of the project lifecycle.
- Engage with business to assess detailed business requirements and convert them into functional specifications for system improvements and new implementations.
- Act as a subject matter expert in assigned business domains and systems, providing guidance and thought leadership across critical initiatives.
- Communicate and coordinate with cross-functional teams to assess and manage changes and enhancements that impact data integrity, workflow optimization, and business functionality.
- Participate in the analysis and diagnosis of application issues, orchestrating resolution efforts to ensure solutions are robust, scalable, and aligned with business goals.
- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for implemented systems and enhancements, directing resolution efforts to maintain system viability and performance.
- Champion transparency and stakeholder engagement by facilitating communication through agile methodologies and best practices.
- Utilize SQL to facilitate data analysis and derive actionable insights.
- Participate in demand planning and steering committees, playing a key role in evaluating, analyzing, and sizing business work requests.
- Oversee the collection and definition of requirements, translating them into comprehensive functional design documents, while supporting design and test planning.
- Produce advanced documentation, including business requirements documents, process models, data mapping, and use case diagrams, to support complex functional requirements.
- Formulate detailed User Stories with thoroughly defined Acceptance Criteria, ensuring clarity and completeness for development teams.
- Collaborate closely with Architects, Developers, Quality Assurance teams, and end users to validate that developed functionality fulfills requirements and business objectives.
- Foster enterprise-wide collaboration with key stakeholders, including underwriting, actuarial, finance, and IT, to identify system needs and recommend strategic process improvements.
- Conduct gap analyses and suggest solutions to improve operational efficiency, meet regulatory requirements, and support standard practices
- Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT), training sessions, and post-implementation support, ensuring seamless adoption and sustained success of new systems.
- Ensure rigorous adherence to data privacy standards, regulatory requirements, and internal governance policies across all initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent business experience required.
- 4 years minimum of business analysis or equivalent.
- Property and Casualty Insurance experience and knowledge of Property & Casualty Insurance products, systems, workflows and processes strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of applying a wide range of industry leading business analysis techniques to drive strategic initiatives and complex projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in evaluation and delivering strategic recommendations to optimize complex business and systems processes, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and industry best practices.
- Proficient with using end to end life development lifecycle and team/project management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira or Confluence.
- Experience overseeing all phases of the SDLC, from requirements gathering and design through testing and ongoing support, with success, in an agile environment.
- Ability to articulate complex concepts to both business and technical audiences through both verbal and written channels.
- Expertise in fostering effective collaboration with Project Sponsors, governance stakeholders, Core Project and Delivery Teams.
- Proven ability to operate with minimal oversight, while also driving collaboration and coordination across teams.
- Must be proficient in tools used to support business analysis including Word, Excel and Visio.
The expected salary range for this role is USD $66,900.00 - USD $95,000.00 Yr.
